Delhi Implements Cloud Kitchens in Women’s Shelter Homes

Delhi Women and Child Welfare Department has launched cloud kitchens inside shelter homes for distressed women, providing culinary training and income generation. These kitchens operate on a commercial basis, partnering with delivery apps to serve hygienic tiffins to corporate offices and students. Each kitchen employs 10–15 women, many of whom are survivors of violence or homelessness. They receive training in nutrition, cooking, packaging, and digital payments. Monthly revenue from each unit crosses ₹1 lakh, reinvested into improving facilities. The model has shown transformative potential, combining rehabilitation with livelihood, and has plans for expansion to 25 shelters.
